Casey Wilson
Graduate Intern
Casey is a graduate art therapy student at Pennsylvania Western University where she has discovered her love for helping those struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, as well as developmental, physical, and intellectual disabilities. She earned her undergraduate degree from Auburn University in studio art and, post graduation, she continued her studies in psychology classes at Georgia State University. During her time in grad school thus far, Casey has been the most interested in positive psychology and the effects of strong caretaker relationships on children’s development. Casey hopes to continue her education in the future as a PhD candidate studying neurodiversity and art therapy’s effects on disability clients.
Casey has had a lifelong passion for working with children. Her experiences include 6 years of volunteering as a camp counselor for children with disabilities and their siblings with F.O.C.U.S. and working as an acting and performing arts teacher.
Most recently, Casey has traveled to Kenya and Tanzania, doing collaborative creative arts therapist trainings with Global Alliance for Africa and she has started a non-profit raising funds and resources for feminine hygiene supplies benefitting Grace’s Girls, a dance and mentorship organization for girls in the slums of Nairobi, Kenya.
In addition to Casey’s work as a graduate student, she enjoys spending time with her three dogs, going on walks, cooking, spending time on self-care by taking naps, and making her own art- ceramics, painting, and photography. She cannot wait to work with you at Art It Out!
